Both of these so-called reality videos comprise a hoax -- a cleverly staged fake, but such a good fake that you can't get too upset with Raven Hill for pulling a fast one on its customers.

I got these soon after their release several years ago. Something seemed a bit off, but I let it pass. But recently I made a jaw-dropping discovery that compelled me to take a second look (and write this review) as it throws the authenticity of Raven Hill's entire line of reality-based videos into question.

As we all know, Raven Hill has had a good run making very entertaining girl-next-door amateur videos (Beach Girl Spankings, Resolved by Corporal Punishment), with non-actresses they pick up at random. That's the charm of the videos -- the girls' reactions are real. The first two "Great American Spanking Roadshow" titles (renamed "Spankin' Down The Highway" 1 & 2) were very good indeed. Tierre and his crew go barreling down the highway in a big-ass RV camper and talk some not-too-bright hotties into coming inside for a three-part nekkid spank-fest. All for an unspecified cash reward, of course. (The dollar amount is deleted from the audio, but it doesn't take an expert lip-reader to tell one girl is saying "five-hundred dollars!")

Louisiana Lickin's at Mardi Gras (Part 1)

In ''Louisiana Lickin's" the guys take a similar road trip to New Orleans (in their new "corporal camper"), park in an alley "just off Bourbon Street", and entice some drunken party girls to come inside for a six-pack of whup-ass.

But it's all fake. Nothing in this reality video is real. I doubt they even left Florida. All we see of Mardi Gras is a brief montage of stock "Girls Gone Wild" type footage of girls flashing their boobs for beads (a blend of day and night-time shots). Then a masterful edit cuts to two "random" girls also showing their big tits for beads. However, they are filmed in a tight shot in front of a blank wall ‹ no crowd, no other people, just them. To complete the illusion, the constant roar of a partying crowd has been added to the soundtrack. Tierre, our genial host, interviews the girls while the camera guy constantly shakes and tilts the camera every which way to create a disorienting "wild party" ambience.

Meet "Danielle", a knockout blonde who resembles Kelly Rippa, and her friend "Pam". The girls pretend to be roaring drunk and up for anything ("It's my first time at Mardi Gras. Woo-hoo!"). The problem is that recently I stumbled across a picture of "Danielle". Turns out she's really Christina Carter, a professional "glamour" bondage-fetish model/actress; she peddles her wares at her own website (www.christinacaptured.com).

As they walk back to the RV, the herky-jerky camera is kept low, filming the ground and the girls' legs so we don't notice they're really on a quiet, deserted street. Another nice touch is the huge "Mardi Gras" sticker plastered on the side of the camper. (Oh Tierre, you scamp!)

Inside the camper (the partying crowd noise plays non-stop in the background) they chat about what a wild and crazy night it's been here in New Orleans, then Tierre announces they're turning the cameras off while they "set up the lights" for filming. When we return, it's obviously daytime as bright sunlight threatens to burst in through the thin window curtains. While the exterior shots were filmed at night, all the interior punishment segments (in both volumes) were apparently done during the day (probably for technical reasons). Someone did a great editing job to make it look like it all happened on one night.

There is also a hilarious continuity shot of Tierre by himself, supposedly on Bourbon Street. We only get a closely-cropped glimpse of the street behind him, but it's enough. No crowds, no partying, just a few bored looking pedestrians, including a woman with a baby carriage, strolling by wearing winter coats (Tierre wears a heavy leather jacket, by the way). Mardi Gras in New Orleans? I don't think so.

So what about the CP action? Both girls get the obligatory otk hand spanking, Danielle/Christina gets the hairbrush and 21 cane strokes, Pam gets the thin sorority paddle and leather strap. All these scenes are long and drawn-out with too many talky pauses between strokes or smacks to be very effective or exciting.

Summary: Over 90 minutes of mostly talk with only two girls (at least one of them is a pro) getting so-so punishments. Not worth it.

Louisiana Lickin's at Mardi Gras (Part 2)

The deception continues. First we see more of the same Mardi Gras stock footage of partying, boob-flashing girls from Part 1. Some arty superimposed images help somewhat as we cut to the breast-baring, bead wearing "Jacqueline", a nice, down-to-earth brunette. By an amazing coincidence, she's also standing off by herself in front of the same blank wall as the girls in Part 1.

After Tierre's "spontaneous" interview and herky-jerky camera nonsense, they repair to the corporal camper for a hand spanking, sorority paddling, and 30 strokes with a pear tree switch. Again, too many long, talky pauses spoils the action, but the switching is not bad. Trivia note for the artistically inclined: Jacqueline's cool back tattoos (cut-out shapes from a violin) are an apparent homage to a famous nude photo taken by surrealist artist Man Ray.

The same dubbed in crowd noises and day-for-night technique for the CP segment from Part 1 is used.

After sending Jacqueline on her way, we return to more street-party stock footage and encounter "Wendy", again, by herself in front of the same building as the others. Wendy is a super-cute blonde with a cool, naughty girl personality. However, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she turned out to be a professional porno actress.

After a long chat in the camper she endures a hand spanking, sorority paddling, and 30 cane strokes ­ with very long pauses between strokes. Again, the slow pacing, endless talk, and frequent pauses during the CP bits detracts. And the fact that the whole thing is a set up instead of a genuine reality video is disappointing.

The nagging question remains: Has Raven Hill been dishonest about their other reality videos in the Beach Girls or Resolved by Corporal Punishment series?
